Concerns have emerged over the alleged absence of a free and fair primary election in the Kwami/Funakaye constituency of Gombe State, as party members and eyewitnesses claim that no proper primary election was conducted.

According to Zakariya Jidda support Group, the process was characterised by manipulation and irregularities, with delegates and party supporters accusing certain individuals of imposing candidates without following due democratic procedures.

They described the exercise as “undemocratic” and “a clear betrayal of the people’s mandate”, alleging that accredited delegates were sidelined while results were allegedly predetermined before the supposed election process began.

An eyewitness at the venue stated that there was confusion among party members as no proper voting process was observed.

“What happened was not a primary election. There was no transparent voting or counting process. Everything appeared arranged from the beginning,” the source claimed.

The aggrieved members are now calling on the party leadership and relevant electoral authorities to investigate the situation and ensure justice, fairness, and transparency in the democratic process.

As of the time of filing this report, party officials in the area had yet to officially respond to the allegations.
