The defence headquarters has described the petition against the Commander, Joint Military Taskforce (JTF), ‘Operation Delta Safe’, Rear Admiral Suleiman Apochi, of involving in illegal oil activities as tactics by criminal elements to discredit the military.

Acting Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General John Agim, made the remark at a press conference at the JTF headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

He said that the Chief of Defence Staff on receiving the petition of wrong-doing some months ago against Apochi, constituted a committee to investigate the allegation, but the findings by the panel showed that the allegation was criminality fighting back.

Agim said that activities of criminals, mostly militants operating in the region have been curtailed since the formation of the joint force and the recent introduction of ‘Operation 777’ by Rear Admiral Apochi.
