The last may not have been heard of the murder allegation against popular musician, David Adeleke alias Davido, as the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, yesterday, said the case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
Addressing the media on the issue at the command headquarters, Imohimi said the decision to transfer the case to SCID followed the advice from the Department of State Prosecution (DPP).
He said the matter was sent to the DPP for its legal input, stressing that while going through the case file, they saw some gray areas which they felt the police should concentrate on. Imohimi said, “Like I said during the last press conference. I directed the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Lion Building to interview Davido. After which the case file was taken to DPP for their legal advice.
“The file has since been returned to the police. The case is now with SCID to conclude investigation into the murder case.”
Daily Trust reports that Davido has recently being enmeshed in the controversy surrounding the alleged murder of Tagbo Umeke whose body was abandoned in front of the General Hospital mortuary, Lagos Island.
Tagbo had allegedly gone to Shisha Bar, Lagos Island, to have drinks with some friends. He was said to have slumped after having over 40 shots of tequila.
After his death, Tagbo’s girlfriend, Caroline Danjuma, took to her Twitter handle accusing Davido for having a hand in the death.
During police initial investigation, the close circuit camera in front of the hospital captured a Toyota Hilux jeep leaving the hospital with two persons who had gone to abandon the deceased in his car.
The investigation, according to the police, revealed that the Hilux jeep was one of Davido’s escort vehicles, showing that the deceased may have been abandoned on the orders of Davido.
