A Federal High Court in Abuja has admitted in evidence videos of alleged inflammatory statements against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
At the resumed trial on the seven-count charges of terrorism against Kanu, Justice James Omotosho admitted a flash drive, a letter dated June 17, 2021, authored by the former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and a certificate of compliance.
In the videos downloaded from Facebook played back in court, Kanu was seen issuing directives to his followers to attack security personnel and burn down police stations.
The prosecution counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) tendered the evidence through a witness of the Department of State Services (DSS), identified only by the codename BBB on Wednesday.

He announced the formation of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), urging followers to defend their land against what he referred to as “Fulani domination.”
The letter from the Attorney General of the Federation directed the DSS to investigage Kanu for acts of conspiracy, murder, arson and persistent killing of security operatives.
The letter cited his inflammatory broadcast Facebook during the 2020 EndSARS protests in Lagos where he directed his followers to manufacture Molotov cocktail attack.
In one of the video clips, a voice allegedly belonging to Kanu was heard addressing people who called into his Facebook program thus: “any police officer you kill, go to their station and set it on fire. Kill them. They are janjaweeds.”
“Start killing soldiers now, set ambush for them, dig holes on the roads so that when their vehicle come it will somersault and they will die.”
He warned political leaders in the region against compromises and issued a directive forbidding the presence of Fulani herdsmen, stating: “the death of any Biafran will be avenged.”
A separate video dated May 30, 2021, showed Kanu declaring a total lockdown in the South-East in memory of fallen Biafrans, instructing residents not to leave their homes or be killed.
Defence counsel, Emeka Etiaba (SAN) did not object to the tendering of the evidence, according to him, to enable the case proceed.
Meanwhile, Justice Omotosho has fixed May 8 for the continuation of the trial.
