The Almajiri system currently being practiced in the Northern region is a ticking time bomb. Most of this almajiris, are minors meant to be under the care and love of their parents but are rather left to fend for themselves on the streets. Parental love and care is absent in their lives. Insecurity is one of the major challenges in the North, and these children are potential recruits for criminal activities.

When it comes to politics and other issues that  benefit the elite, we are at the forefront and make the loudest noise. This is an issue staring us in the face, yet we have not taken action on it.

It is time for us to look at this social problem. The elite, religious and traditional rulers must do something on this matter before it gets too late.
