Cross River State University of Technology (CRUTEC) Alumni Association has raised the sum of N12 million for the building of their proposed Alumni Scholarship Centre in Calabar.
The fundraising meeting was held in Calabar and was graced by dignitaries from the state including former Senate leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN), who donated N1m with a further pledge of N2m once the foundation stone is laid.
National President of the association, Comrade Eyam Abeng, said the association had proposed N400 million for the project which will comprise of 500-Seater capacity auditorium, ICT centre, sports hall and guest rooms. He said about N12 million has so far been raised.
The APC governorship candidate during the last general election in Cross River State, Odey Ochicha, donated N5m to support the project.
He said,“Not many products of Nigerian universities love going back to give to their alma mater. For this reason, we should encourage CRUTECH alumni. We must invest in education.”
