The Executive Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, on Saturday, began the distribution of palliatives to residents of the council.

The flagging off exercise took place at the AMAC Town Hall in Apo Resettlement.

Mr Maikalangu said, “I wish to express our profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who approved the provision of these palliatives to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

“The provision of these palliatives is yet another benevolent act of our president and we are indeed grateful to be part of it. By the provision of this palliative, our people will get succour considering the hardship we are facing in recent times.

“As a government, we want to show a sense of equality and transparency in the distribution of these palliatives. Residents of AMAC were invited irrespective of their ethnic group, religious inclination and political party. These people were drawn from 12 political wards of the council. We want to continue the good work and show commitment in order to touch the lives of our people.”

“You will agree with me that the government alone cannot provide everything for its teeming population.

“We, therefore, call for more support from partners, agencies, NGOs and individuals to join the government in impacting the lives of the people.’’

In a statement, Kingsley Madaki, spokesman of the chairman, listed the items distributed as rice, maize and other food items which were received by over 100 residents.
