The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has announced a strategic extension for the full implementation of its Single Revenue Account policy.

The council attributed the decision to essential technical upgrades required for a seamless transition.

A statement from the council yesterday noted that the transition to a unified digital payment platform—aimed at curbing revenue leakages and eliminating manual cash handling—has encountered what officials described as “technical glitches.”

These involve the synchronization of the AMAC Smart Tax portal with various commercial bank interfaces and the central treasury system.

The Council Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, explained that the extension is a proactive measure to protect taxpayers from potential system errors or double-billing during the integration phase.
