In contributing to the overall academic development of Imo State students, mostly those at the institutions of higher level across the State , a renowned academician and lover of education Dr. Mathew Amadi has flagged off student wings in all the tertiary Institutions in the State to improve learning process and to encourage academic competitiveness among students.
Speaking on the introduction of the wing , the convener of the academic programme, Comr. Valentine Nzubechi Ahaneku also Vice President Of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Special Duties said that the introduction of the student wings is to enable students to equip themselves with academic tools of the twenty first century and creat the avenue of bringing students together to exchange academic ideas among themselves.
He said that every necessary things has been put in place to hit the ground running.
Ahaneku informed that they are starting with essay competitions among the institutions across the State and also bring innovative skills acquisition Programmes.
First we are kicking off with a storywriting competition as we have students from Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) Alvan Ikoku University Of Education and other Institutions that will participate in the essay writing competition” he said.
The NANS Vice president further said that they are using the medium to extend the message to students of Imo State University (IMSU) and other indigenous institutions like, FECOLART, K. O Mbadiwe University, Nursing School, University of Agriculture, and all other institutions across the State to join what he described as empowering competition which according to him will enable students develope skills relevant for the 21st Century as huge prices are attached to it.
” It’s pertinent that various institutions across the State partake in the forthcoming Programme as it plays an integral role in equipping the professional ethics, and career wise of the Imo State students.” he added.
