Amadi, Okediran, Agada for ANA fellowship

The Association of Nigerian Authors, (ANA), will honour Late Elechi Amadi, Dr. Wale Okediran and Professor Jerry Anthony Agada with fellowship.
This will take place at its 35th Anniversary International Convention coming up from October 27 to 30, 2016 in Abuja.
This was contained in a release signed by the president of ANA, Denja Abdullahi.
Amadi is best known for his historical trilogy about traditional life in Nigerian villages. These include ‘The Concubine’ published in 1966, ‘The Great Ponds’, 1969 and ‘The Slave’, 1978.
Okediran and Agada are both past presidents of ANA and members of the National Advisory Council.
The fellowship, approved by the National Executive Council of the association, is to be conferred on them for their dedicated service to the Association and proven contributions to the development of Nigerian literature.
In a related development, Justice Mustapha Akanbi Foundation in Ilorin is to be installed as an honorary corporate member of the association for its support to the activities of ANA for the past five years, while Senator Shehu Sani will be installed as a patron.
The investiture of fellows, honorary corporate member and patron will be done at the awards dinner of the convention.
Fellowships of ANA were last conferred in 2006 at the Association’s 25th Convention in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. Previous fellows are Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka, J P Clark, Mabel Segun, Labo Yari, T M Aluko, Kole Omotoso, Femi Osofisan, Ken Saro Wiwa, Odia Ofeimun, Abubakar Gimba, Mamman  Jiya Vatsa , Olusegun Obasanjo, Dora Akunyili and Olu Obafemi.
