Amaechi at a press briefing in Port Harcourt yesterday said security report at his disposal revealed that the planned assassination of the APC governorship candidate is PDP’s last resort to silent the party in the state.
He alleged that a gang of assassins has been brought into the state by PDP agents and accommodated in a hotel in Port Harcourt waiting to carry out their evil plot against the APC governorship candidate.
The governor described the state police command and the first lady Dame Patience Jonathan as the biggest threat to having free, fair and peaceful elections in the state.
Amaechi noted that the police had abandoned its law enforcement duties and taken sides with the PDP by arresting members of the APC in the state.
He  alleged that 30 members of the APC have so far been killed, with four arrested for defecting from the PDP to APC, while 307 members have been harassed and threatened by the police.
He said that despite repeated appeals to the Inspector General of Police and several meetings with the police commissioner, thugs carrying out the orders of the PDP have  continued to kill, injure APC supporters and destroy their property.
