Under-fire Abia Warriors coach, Imama Amapakabo has expressed relief at securing the first league victory in the ongoing 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Abia Warriors had been without a win in the last seven games which is the club’s longest winless run in the top division, but ended the streak by defeating visiting Sunshine Stars 4-1 at the Okigwe Township Stadium on Wednesday.

In his reaction to the victory, the former Rangers coach said he knew the victory was going to come despite the fact that his players were not taking their chances in front of goal.

“The win was going to come at a point in time and it came at the 8th week. We have been able to create chances which we didn’t take.

“We needed one win to be able to go to the next stage. The win has come and we hope that we take it up from here.

“It’s a thing of joy when as a coach, all what you have planned before the game begins to manifest. Every coach is under pressure,” he said.

Warriors will take a trip to Uyo where they will battle against Dakkada FC on Sunday.
