The Ọbalúfẹ̀ of Ilé-Ifẹ̀, Oba Idowu Olaniyi Adediwura, has congratulated Chief Femi Fani-Kayode on his appointment as an ambassador.

In a congratulatory message issued on behalf of the ancient city of Ilé-Ifẹ̀, Oba Adediwura described the appointment as a recognition of Fani-Kayode’s experience, public visibility and long-standing engagement in national and international affairs.

Daily Trust reports that Fani-Kayode hails from Ile-Ife in Osun State.

“This appointment is a recognition of experience, visibility, and sustained engagement in national and international affairs,” the Ọbalúfẹ̀ said.

He noted that Ilé-Ifẹ̀, regarded as the cradle of the Yorùbá race, takes pride when its sons are called upon to serve the nation beyond its borders, describing the appointment as both an honour and a responsibility.

“Ilé-Ifẹ̀, as the fountain from which identity, culture, and leadership flow, takes pride whenever one of her sons is called to serve the nation beyond her shores,” he said.

The traditional ruler stressed that effective diplomacy requires wisdom, restraint, courage and a deep understanding of culture, adding that Nigeria’s representation on the global stage must be guided by honour, clarity of purpose and national loyalty.

“Diplomacy, in its truest form, demands wisdom, restraint, courage, and deep cultural understanding,” the Ọbalúfẹ̀ said. “It is our expectation that this assignment will be carried out with dignity and a strong sense of national consciousness.”

Offering prayers for the new ambassador, Oba Adediwura asked for divine guidance and wisdom for Fani-Kayode as he assumes the role.

“As you assume this noble responsibility, the throne of Odùduwà offers earnest prayers for divine guidance and uncommon wisdom,” he said.

He expressed confidence that Fani-Kayode’s conduct and service would promote peace, inspire respect and enhance Nigeria’s image internationally, adding that Ilé-Ifẹ̀ remains hopeful and prayerful as he begins the new chapter of national service.
