The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, at the weekend handed over the Staff and Instrument of Appointment to Aholu Koshoedo Ebenezer Ahisu as Aholu Tha-Zuno Toyon 1, of Ajara Vetho, in Badagry Local Government.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, Muslim Olohuntele Folami, who represented Ambode at the ceremony held at the Ajara Vetho Playground, Badagry, said that the move was aimed at reaching all those in rural communities in Lagos.

The governor recalled that the people of Ajara Vetho and members of the Zodoganwu Ruling House were persistent in their request for the upgrading of the stool of office of their traditional ruler, adding that after going through due process, he approved the appointment of Aholu Tha-Zuno 1, Ajara Vetho in Badagry.

Ambode urged the monarch to cherish the confidence which members of the community reposed in him, and the people of the community to also give unalloyed support to the new monarch in order to enable him continue to safeguard the sanctity of the sacred and highly reserved institution.

The governor said that the institution of traditional Obaship, regardless of the advent of modernism, remained a rallying point for the generality of the people, and had served as a veritable tool for the dissemination of governance and mobilization of the populace.

“As a custodian of the culture and tradition of your people, you should be seen as a rallying point for the maintenance of communal peace and social development,” he told the new monarch.
