A member representing Jere Federal Constituency of Borno State, Ahmed Satomi has distributed 1,650 bags of fertilizer to peasant farmers across the 12 wards of his constituency.
Flagging off the distribution in Maiduguri on Monday, Satomi said he felt the pain of the constituents, while commending them for opting out of the nationwide protests to face their farming activities.
“The beneficiaries were carefully selected devoid of ethnic, political or religious consideration, as you can see the youths, women, the elderly and less privileged ones are the recipients of these gesture.
“Some of these items were donated to us by the Federal Government and we are expecting more so as to ameliorate the current economic challenges of our people,” he said
He said the second phase of rice distribution tagged ‘Community Food Outreach’ (CFO), will be distributed tomorrow and the target beneficiaries are the downtrodden.
He said ongoing protests is a wake up call to lawmakers and political appointees, who play a hide and seek with their constituents, urging them to face the public plights to ameliorate the sufferings.
