President of the association, Henry Amike, said yesterday in Lagos that a previous lack of a dedicated grassroots development had stunted its growth.
Amike alleged that in spite of the fan fare that heralded the creation of NASCOM, the body’s impact has yet to be felt in grassroots sports’ competitions.
“In this country, we don’t believe in grassroots development. NASCOM was initiated by government, but has it served its purpose? The answer is no, because of the government’s lukewarm approach.
“As we speak, the gap between the junior and senior cadre is widening by the day. If allowed to continue, it would disrupt the flow of budding talents from embryonic stage.
