The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has sought collaboration with the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) to enhance peace and security efforts in the Niger Delta region.
During a visit to the National Coordinator of the NCTC, Major General Adamu Laka in Abuja, Dr Dennis Otuaro, the Administrator of PAP, emphasised the importance of a partnership with the NCTC, which operates under the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
He said the collaboration is expected to bolster ongoing peace initiatives aimed at stabilising the oil-rich region.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Igoniko Oduma, Otuaro expressed optimism that the partnership would not only contribute to the safety of the Niger Delta but also enhance Nigeria’s oil production and drive economic growth, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We aim to work together. This visit is focused on seeking support and partnership with the NCTC under the ONSA framework to transform the Niger Delta into a safer environment and to ensure an increase in oil production for the benefit of the nation,” Otuaro said.
He further underscored the necessity for sustainable peace in the region, asserting, “We must ensure that sustainable peace and security prevail in the Niger Delta. We are committed to leveraging the resources available to the PAP Office to positively impact vulnerable Niger Deltans and affected communities.”
Otuaro also commended the NCTC for its accomplishments in addressing national security challenges, highlighting that its efforts are crucial for safeguarding Nigeria’s future.
In response, Major General Laka expressed gratitude for the visit and demonstrated readiness to explore collaborative opportunities with PAP. He reaffirmed the NCTC’s dedication to ensuring peace and security across the country, particularly in the Niger Delta, which remains vital for Nigeria’s economic stability.
