Operatives of the Amotekun Corps have apprehended 58 suspects, including kidnappers, who had been terrorising residents in the different parts of Ondo State.

Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, who paraded the suspects at the weekend in Akure, the state capital, alleged that 32 of the suspects are kidnappers who were picked up at their various hideout and locations following an Intel.

Adeleye noted that the suspects were tracked down to the Akure North and Akure South LGAs, Ose and Owo LGAs, and Akoko Northeast LGA – which had been a hotspot for kidnapping and banditry activities.

He said that operatives of the Corps mobilised reinforcements to the LGAs and launched operations into the enclaves where most of the criminals were apprehended.

He said, “In recent time, we have an upsurge of criminals activities in Ondo State, the officers and men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun mobilized additional supports from the neighbouring local government areas and entered into the forests reserves and other areas noted for these nefarious activities.

“In the last one week, we were able to arrest 32 suspects for kidnapping, who are currently undergoing interrogation. We have a total of 58 people that we are parading today.

“We want to reassure the residents of Ondo State that with the efforts put in place by the government of Ondo State, that all the security agencies in the state we have acted to flush out these criminals from their hideout. Maybe in the forests or in the town for us to achieve a very safe community.”
