The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, has rescued five persons during two overnight operations in the Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that at about 2am on Saturday, staff on night duty at a health center in Oke-Ijebu, within the Akure metropolis, were abducted.

Witnesses stated that the attackers arrived in a large bus, forcefully entered the facility opposite the Mega School, and whisked the health workers away.

Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, the Amotekun Corps Commander, confirmed on Saturday in Akure that three health workers and two other citizens have since been rescued. (NAN)

“In a separate incident, a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son were abducted at Pelebe, on the outskirts of Oda Road, Akure, between 7:30pm and 8pm.,” Adeleye said.

“The victims were rescued by the Rapid Response Squad of the Amotekun Corps at about 1am following a heavy confrontation with the kidnappers. Additionally, the three health workers who were abducted earlier regained their freedom at about 4:30 am and are currently receiving treatment at the Amotekun health facility.”

Adeleye assured residents that the safety of lives and property remains a top priority for the state government and urged the public to continue providing timely and accurate information to security agencies, emphasizing that collective effort is essential for enhanced safety across the state.
