The operatives of Ondo State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as Amotekun Corps, have rescued four kidnapped victims in the state from the den of armed bandits.
The victims include a couple; Olatunji Sidikat and Olatunji Moruf, Emmanuel Adeladun, and Ayodele Adeyeye.
They were rescued on the Lagos/Ore Road and Ifon forest in Ose Local Government Area of the state without paying any ransom.
It was learnt that the bandits had demanded a total of N150 million from the families of the victims in their different locations before the timely intervention of the Amotekun Corps.
Confirming the rescuing of the victims on Wednesday, the Commander of Amotekun Corps in the state, Adetunji Adeleye, said three of the victims were abducted on their way from the farm along the Ore-Ijebu Ode-Lagos Expressway.
Adeleye added that the other victim was abducted at his Upemen residence on the Owo-Ikare Road, stressing that the Amotekun officers rescued him after spending five days in the forest with the kidnappers.
“We have one Stanley Adeyeye, Olatunji Sidikat and Olatunji Moruf, a couple that were kidnapped along Lagos-Ore Road on the 10th of May. A few minutes after this occurrence, the families of the victims contacted our distress call, and we mobilised our men to enter the forest.
“The people were kidnapped by armed men and led into the bush. I want to tell you that the Amotekun Corps have been able to recover the four of them present here without payment of 1 kobo and no loss of lives.”
He added, “For instance, one Emmanuel Adeladun that was kidnapped along Ikare-Owo Road on the 6th of May was rescued without payment of a kobo as ransom. Despite the fact that the attackers inflicted several matchet cuts and wounds on him, we acted on credible intelligence, and we were able to secure his release.
“They started with the ransom of N50 million for Adeladun, but on the day they told him he was going to be killed, if the funds were not paid, they were actually expecting the money. We told them we’re bringing N10 million in exchange for him, but we were able to get him out without payment of one kobo.
“In the case of Ayodele Olatunji and Stanley, they were expecting N100 million but we told them that we are bringing N15 million and we were able to rescue them without payment of one kobo and no casualty.”
Two of the victims, Mr Ayodele and Mr Adeniran, expressed appreciation to Amotekun Corps for rescuing them from untimely death, as they confirmed that the kidnappers had threatened to kill them if ransom was not paid on time.
Adeniran, who was matcheted on the chest, said he trekked in the bush for five days before men of Amotekun came to his rescue in the Akoko axis of the state.
