An appeal to Governor Badaru Abubakar

With all due respect and loyalty, I would like to draw your attention and give a piece of admonition on the massive impending flooding that would submerge Hadejia Local Government Area.  This has been publicly declared by Mr Nuhu Jibo, a United Nations focal person on climate change.

Mr Jibo warned that the earth observation satellite data had already shown that disaster is looming.

The massive flooding that occurred last year in Hadejia, and Jigawa State in general, led to the destruction of public properties and loss of lives.

More so, ever since that sad experience of last year, no positive and preventive action has been taken to avoid future occurrence.

Sadly, the majority of the victims are farmers whose lands were totally destroyed, washing away all their crops. As a result of this, there was widespread food shortage that affected the people of the affected areas.

I, therefore, call on you to meticulously find a remedy and take timely action to save the lives and property of citizens.

Government should also set up a machinery to find out a major cause of recurring flooding and  measures to halt its occurrence.

Your government may wish to seek the assistance of the federal government in this direction since it is a capital-intensive project.
