ANA Abuja inaugurates convention LOC

The event which held last Saturday, 5th March 2011 at the French Cultural Centre, Abuja, attracted writers and literary enthusiasts living in the city complemented by the presence of the Assistant Secretary General of ANA, Alkassim Abdulkadir and National Publicity Secretary (North) Comrade Omale Abduljabar.
In his welcome speech to the guests at the occasion, the Chairman of the Abuja chapter of ANA, Mr. Seyi Adigun stated that the hosting right of the convention 2011 was granted to Abuja at the last convention in Akure, Ondo state. He noted that the choice of Abuja is unprecedented in the history of the association, given the tradition of the body. He then said that in view of this; the Abuja chapter of the association will do all that is necessary to ensure a befitting hosting of the convention later this year.
He noted further that ANA at this point in its life as a body needs change. “We need change in the way we do our things. We need to develop new ideas that will put us on par with trends in the 21st century. That is what we at Abuja intend to do with the hosting of this convention. We are going to be innovative and try to things with a touch of invention,” he said.
Also in his remarks, the representative of the National Executive, Mr. Alkassim Abdulkadir stated the readiness of the national executive of ANA to give maximum support to the Abuja local branch towards successful hosting of the convention this year. In his words, “The challenges of hosting this convention in Abuja as we know will be high. But we believe that as we work together, we shall achieve it.”
In a short but detailed e-presentation, the Chairman of the LOC, Mr. Odoh Diego Okenyodo explained to the audience the proposal of the body towards a successful hosting of the convention, especially touching on the areas where the committee is hoping to add innovations. He pledged that given all the necessary support, the committee will do a great job of the hosting of the convention.
The members of the committee comprise Mr. Odoh Diego Okonyedo, Lady Thelma Nwokedi, Dr. Kabura Zakama, Dr. Lizzy Iheanacho, Joy Okoduwa, Patrick Oguejiofor, Ahmed Maiwada, Ken Ike Okere, Lady Brisibe Udogu, Abubakar Adam Ibrahim and Lola Shoneyin, while the advisory board of the committee include Information Minister, Mr. Labaran Maku, Prof. Ojima Umelo, Denja Abdullahi, Eugenia Abu, Odia Ofeimum, A.R Uganden
