ANA releases 2016 literary prizes shortlist

The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), has released shortlist for its literary prizes in various categories with two prizes not awarded.
This was contained in a release signed by ANA Publicity Secretary, South, Olatunbosun Taofeek.
Nominees for ANA Prose Fiction Prize category are Franklin Finecountry for ‘Avenger of Blood’, Ifeoluwapo Adeniyi for ‘On the Bank of the River’, Henry Akubuiro for ‘Prodigals in Paradise’ and Othuke Ominiabohs for ‘Odufa: A Lovers’ Tale’.
Those on the list for ANA Drama Prize are, Fela Omoyele for ‘Kosoko King of Eko’, Olatunde Bolaji for ‘Sacking the Porter’, and R.C. Ofodile for ‘Fated Rift’.
Shortlisted writers for the ANA Poetry Prize include Obari Gomba for ‘Thunder Protocol’ and Jumoke Verissimo for ‘The Birth of Illusion’.
Also, those on the list for ANA/Abubakar Gimba Prize for Short Stories are Peter Ukwa for ‘River People and Other Stories’, Paul Ugah for ‘Midnight Cry’ and R.C. Ofodile for ‘From Sin to Splendour’.
For the ANA Ngozi Chuma Udeh Prize for Children’s Literature, Augusta Mmakamba Okon is shortlisted for ‘The Quest for the Gem of Arubia’, Ozimede Sunny Ekhaalume for ‘Sunny and the Arodan’, and Philip Begho for ‘Water-Carrier Millionaire’.
For honourable mention is the film script, ‘Nollywood and Cultural Diplomacy: Criticism of Artist’s Knowledge of the Film Story’ by Nwagbo Pat Obi for ANA/Maria Ajima Prize for Literary Criticism.
The ANA/Mazarriya Teen Author Poetry Prize and ANA/NECO Teen Author Prose Prize were not awarded.
Panel of judges for the prices include Professor Nelson Fashina from University of Ibadan, Mallam Salihu Mohammed Bappa from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Ismaila Bala Garba from Bayero University, Kano, Dr. Owojecho Omoha from University of Abuja, and Mrs. Joan Oji from Educational Resource Centre, Abuja.
The list prize is N50,000 and the highest $2,500. Winners of the various prizes will be announced at the awards dinner of the 35th Anniversary International Convention of the Association coming in Abuja on October 29, 2016.
