The National Executive Council of the Association of Nigerian authors (ANA) has proposed a review of the association’s constitution which was last amended in 2012. 

This was contained in a release signed by President of ANA, Malam Denja Abdullahi. The resolution was made after the NEC meeting held at Grange Hill Hotel, Mpape, Abuja on Saturday 20 January, 2018.

A Constitution Review Committee headed by the National Legal Adviser of the association will be constituted with membership drawn from chapters across the six geo-political zones of the country. All members will be expected to prepare and send in their contributions to the constituted committee towards amendments and final ratification by the Congress.

The Lagos State chapter of the association, going by its bid at the last convention held in Makurdi Benue State, has also been provisionally awarded the right to host the 2018 convention, subject to final ratification in April 2018. 

ANA leadership reiterated its commitment to the development of the association’s land at Mpape, Abuja into a modern Writers Village and honing the skills of young and emergent writers as well as further capacity development for established writers among others.

The 37th International Annual Convention of the association has been scheduled to hold from October 25 to 28, 2018 with the theme ‘Literature: Megacities and Mega-narratives’.
