The Anambra State House of Assembly yesterday resumed plenary after a three weeks recess.

Welcoming his colleagues from the break, the speaker of the House of Assembly, Uche Okafor, said the parliament would remain focused and continue to ensure effective representation and enactment of quality laws.

Reiterating the commitment of the house to improving the standard of living and the development of the state, he commended house members for being actively involved in oversight functions, by visiting some constituency projects and empowerment schemes.

He challenged members to continue to uphold the attributes of unity, peace and brotherliness which, he said, the seventh assembly was known for.

The speaker, also on behalf of the members, commiserated with the Nnewi Catholic Diocese over the fire incident at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Nnewichi which claimed the life of Revered Father Edmund Nwagbala.
