‘Anambra free mass literacy for house-helps, palm wine tappers, others’

The Acting Executive Secretary and Director, State Agency for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non Formal Education in Anambra State, Donatus Nwosu, has said that the programme is not only for adults but for all uneducated persons including, traders, farmers, househelps, palm wine-tappers among others.

 Nwosu who stated this at the mobilization and sensitization of the 179 communities of the state, noted that Anambra is rated third in the federation in mass literacy programme.

 He revealed that the government has provided facilities and materials to be distributed to learners free at the centres for their classes. He thanked Governor Willie Obiano for his efforts in developing the education sector which he noted is yielding much fruits.

Describing education as a yardstick for growth and development, Nwosu explained that many people have finished their basic education programmes while others have obtained their junior WAEC certificate through the programme.  

 The acting executive secretary called on the staff and facilitators of the agency to ensure that their learning centres across the state were open for free enrollment of new learners.
