Ahead of the 2021 Anambra State governorship election, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Frank Obiekwe Oraeki, has decamped to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) with thousands of his supporters.

Oraeki, who was the former president general of Nri town in Aniocha Local Government Area of the state, said he joined APGA to support the party in the state.

He said he left PDP to join APGA because the party and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have failed the country, adding that the only party left for the country was APGA.

With him in APGA, he said, no other party can win any election in Aniocha LGA.

He called for unity among party members to consolidate and improve on the progress APGA had made over the years.

“Nobody forced me to join APGA. I see APGA as our own party and it is a great movement in the state. All hands must be on deck to take the party higher in the country,” he said.

Receiving Oraeki into the party, an APGA presidential aspirant, Prof. Peter Umeadi, commended him, saying he was a big catch for the party.

According to him, Oraeki joining APGA was a big plus given his political records in the state over the years.
