The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, Mr. John Chuma Nwosu, has expressed confidence in his chances of winning the November 8 poll, saying only issues such as vote-buying and voter apathy could affect the outcome.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, Nwosu said his optimism was based on what he described as growing public support for the ADC and renewed confidence in the electoral process under the leadership of the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan.
He urged residents of Anambra to participate actively in the election and to reject inducement or voter manipulation, saying that a credible process would strengthen democracy and ensure a fair outcome.
On his move from the Labour Party (LP) to the ADC, Nwosu explained that the decision followed internal party considerations during the nomination period. According to him, the ADC provides a coalition platform bringing together members from different political backgrounds who share similar ideals.
“I worked with the Labour Party in building structures across the 21 local government areas of Anambra State, but I later decided to join the ADC, which now accommodates several political interests, including those from the PDP and LP,” he said.
Nwosu said his experience in the private sector had prepared him for public service, adding that his administration would focus on technology-driven governance.
He listed his seven-point agenda under the acronym SHEEEMS, representing Security, Health, Education, Economy, Environment, e-Governance, and e-Commerce.
According to him, “The goal is to make governance more transparent and efficient by introducing digital systems in taxation, healthcare, transportation, and public administration.”
He noted that his campaign places strong emphasis on improving security, boosting internally generated revenue through technology, and addressing erosion and other environmental challenges affecting communities in the state.
Nwosu also restated his commitment to serve a single term if elected, saying that his administration would prioritise measurable development within the first three years.
He concluded by appealing to voters to support the ADC, assuring that his government would promote accountability, innovation, and inclusive development.
