The Anambra State judiciary has gotten a new Chief Registrar in the person of Mr Lawrence Uzuodu, who until his appointment was the Deputy Chief Registrar in charge of magistrate courts in the state .

Uzuodu was appointed last week by the state Judicial Service Commission, following the retirement of the former chief registrar, Mrs Doris Ezeani, in November last year.

During  the swearing-in, the state Chief Judge, Justice Peter Umeadi urged the new Chief Registrar to be firm, strict and disciplined in discharging his responsibilities.

He also charged the new Chief Registrar to put in place a mechanism to ensure discipline of judiciary staff in line with the current administration’s zero tolerance for corruption.

Umeadi added that as the chief administrative officer of the third arm of government in the state, the Chief Registrar should also evolve a reward system and welfare package for staff who excel in their duties.

Responding, the new Chief Registrar, Lawrence Uzuodu pledged his commitment to putting into practice those lofty ideas that would ensure the judiciary remains the last hope of the common man.
