Anambra and Kogi states have initiated moves towards permanent resolution of the age long boundary disputes between the two states.

The deputy governor of Anambra state, Dr. Nkem Okeke who disclosed this in Awka, at a joint meeting with his Kogi state counterpart, Elder Simon Achuba, on behalf of their governors, said the meeting was necessary in order to strategize and harmonize views to ending the dispute.

He regretted that past efforts to settle the boundary problems, amidst provision of funds by state government had not yielded fruits, expressing optimism of a permanent resolution as both governors are very much interested in resolving the issues.

“With collaborative synergy between both states and the National Boundary Commission to further sensitize inhabitants, establish the boundaries, among others, hopefully the issue would be resolved perpetually,” he assured.

On his part, the Kogi state deputy governor, Elder Simon Achuba, said the meeting was targeted at resuming negotiations on grey areas that require collective attention.
