Anambra pupils get academic excellence award

No fewer than 84 primary schools pupils of Umuohi Okija, Anambra State have been presented with certificates of academic excellence and cash awards for their outstanding performances in their various classes.

Presenting the award to the recipients during a forum on education in the area, the community leader in Okija, Chief Obidon Onujiogu, said education presents a necessary condition for societal development.

He said that for any society to develop meaningfully, stakeholders must work together in the promotion of education through encouragement of academic excellence among pupils.

According to Onujiogu, time has gone when education was mainly for the well-to -do, adding that no investment in education is a waste.

He said the state government had made concerted effort to improve the quality of education. 

Also speaking, an educationist in the area, Lady Bene Nwanekezi said such forum would go a long way toward promoting academic excellence in schools.
