The Anambra State government has advised the management staff of the FADAMA III Additional Financing Project,  agro-dealers and  farmers  to  live up to expectations in keeping with the Development Project Objective (DPO) by rededicating themselves to the total realisation of the implementation arrangements of the project.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development in the state, Mr. Afam Mbanefo, at a meeting with the management staff in Awka, noted that Governor Obiano had made huge investments in the project and expected nothing short of maximum output in order to attain the objectives of poverty reduction through value addition in rice.
This came as the special adviser to the governor on Fadama III, Obinna Efobi, charged accredited agro-dealers in the state to supply quality seeds and agro-chemicals to farmers participating in the Fadama III financing to ensure maximum output and boost the governor’s investment in Fadama and other agricultural projects in the state.
Efobi, who stated this while declaring open a one-day awareness creation workshop for accredited agro-dealers, called on the beneficiaries to maintain best agricultural practices and key into the Agricultural Transformation Agenda (ATA) of the federal government.
Earlier, the acting state project coordinator, Mrs. Evelyn Odiari, solicited the assistance of the state government in reducing some of the bureaucratic indicators tampering with activities at the project.
Efobi, who also spoke at the accredited agro-dealers workshop, reminded the participants of the need to increase the income of farmers in the prioritised staple crop processing zone on a sustainable basis, adding that the successes of Fadama II gave rise to the Fadama II1 additional financing.
Three technical papers were presented at the workshop – Role of Agro-dealers in the Implementation of Fadama III AF, Procurement Issues, and ‘Linking Agro-dealers with Farmers.
