A primary school teacher in Anambra State, Mr. Okodo Clement Nwoye, has been named as the winner of Nigeria’s 2017 Overall Best Teacher.
Nwoye, a teacher in Central School Abagana, in Njikoka Local Government Area, won the award organised by the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja.
Announcing the winner in Awka, Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, represented by the Director, Education Support Services, Mrs J. N. Ibeh, said the award presentation ceremony would hold on October 5 in Abuja during the World Teachers’ Day celebration.
Also, Roseline Nkemdilim Obi, a teacher at Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha, was said to have won the maiden edition of Maltina Teacher of the Year Award in 2015.
Reacting, the state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kate Omenugha, said she was proud of Mr Nwoye and all the other teachers because they were perfect examples of all honesty and hard work.
