Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts has called for the sack of local government council workers in the state who do not justify their monthly salaries.
The Committee Chairman, Hon. Charles Ezeani, expressed sadness over the increase of absenteeism of local government workers, saying 90% of the workforce who do not come to work have continued to receive salaries for years.
Ezeani who gave the shocking revelation while scrutinizing the 2015 audited account of Ayamelum local government council at the State legislative building, Awka, insisted that such attitude must not continue.
The committee consequently inaugurated a 3-man committee to furnish them with a detailed weekly report on every staff of the local government.
Responding, the Transition Committee Chairman, Ayamelum Local Government Area, Ken Okolo, assured that they would key into the reforms introduced by the committee to reposition the council.
