The Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party (ANDP) has called for sustained national support and encouragement for the armed forces to enable it put in optimum service for the nation.
The National Chairman of the party, Mr. Charles Ogboli, said in a statement in Abuja yesterday that members of the armed forces deserve encouragement as they continue to sacrifice their lives for the country, instead of facing utterances that could dampen their morale.
He urged Nigerians to disregard recent reports purporting to portray the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, as indicting soldiers for unseriousness, saying such reports must have quoted the army chief out of context.
“The party posits that such publication casting the army chief in a bad light is against national interest and aimed at weakening the morale of soldiers. The party urges Nigerians to discountenance such as it is mischievous,” he said.
