Andreas Lubitz and Africa

In Nigeria children as young as 10 years-old suicide bombers old have killed scores of people. Blame has been put on the heartlessness and murderous religious fanaticism of older persons who strapped explosive devices under clothes of infants. According a former girlfriend, Lubitz wished to achieve a feat that would ‘’change the whole system and everyone would know (his) name and remember’ it.
Officials claim that he left no clues of political and religious rage, and turned to  hints of a health condition which drove his action; thereby closing doors to more important options. The possibility of Lubitz being under the command of recruiters for ISIS in Germany would send panic into the air transport industry. That he ignored a doctor’s prescription not to fly may have been not to miss a date dictated by his minders. While this line of speculation feeds on current panic across Europe about massive recruitment of youths by radical Islamists, it blames an ideology from outside Euro-America.
Lubitz mass murder recalled an incident in Gyor, Hungary. Professor Johan Galtung gave a lecture which gave efficient governance to those living in very cold Scandinavia, Germany and Russia; while in warmer climates of southern Europe there was corruption and sloppiness. These included France, Italy, Greece and Cyprus. His proposition aroused furious protests for peddling a racist German myth of the superior intelligence of the ‘’Aryan race’’. Bitter memories of brutalities of German colonisation of their countries erupted. Participants from Africa and Asia-Pacific were amused by this explosion of European tribalism.
Galtung’s doctrine has recently infused contemptuous attitudes to economies of Italy, Greece and Spain. Germany’s economic power has been celebrated; with Germans sneering at poor Greeks having their electricity cut off; lining up for free soup once a day; obtaining medical drugs from charity organisations; while thousands of university graduates flee to South America; Britain and Germany to do menial jobs. Economic barbarism from Europe’s feudal past resurfaced. Bitterness among Greeks and ruthless attitudes of German leaders provoked Greeks into voting into power a leader who demanded that Germans pay reparations for war crimes during World War 2.
Post-Cold War Europe attacked the legacy of socialist struggles for more humane societies out of cruel histories of feudalism and horrendous 1914-1918 and 1938-1945 wars.  Believers in ideologies of the survival of the fittest have dominated the media and government policies. Andreas Lubitz was open to the attraction of either this ideology or to an alternative ideology which promoted mass killings against ‘’devilish’’ Euro-America.
The fact that 55 Spanish and 16 non-Germans boarded the flight in Barcelona due to Dusseldorf in Germany was likely to incite in Lubitz resentments against those fleeing from failed economies to enjoy fruits of superior German economic success.  Rising attacks on Jews in France; German gangs mobilising support against foreign immigrants; televised images of children and women slaughtered in Gaza; and NATO decimating Iraq, Syria and Libya enveloped Lubitz. He saw ISIS beheading Egyptian Coptic Christians, American, British and Japanese journalists and getting high publicity for it. White American policemen murdered black men with impunity.  A season of dramatized mass decimation of lives may well have triggered in Lubitz a wish for high speed-crash for murder and suicide.
This moment of ideological depravity inflames racism.  Africa must combat Euro-American ‘’Social Darwinism’’ by promoting ‘human development diplomacy’ to benefit poor  African Diaspora from the United States to Argentina; from Brazil to Peru; from Jamaica to Australia, Papua; Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and other Pacific islands. With the African Diaspora being a member of the African Union, their intellectuals must produce ammunition for diplomatic work inside United Nations agencies. In need are also ‘’economic refugees’’; footballers and students.
Africa must also vigorously offer ‘’Ubuntu’’ or ‘’Ujamaa’’ as ideological banners for global adoption. They emphasise oneness-with-humanity as one family from whom individuals receive love and owe service. Kwame Nkrumah expressed it as ‘’Ghana’s independence not being complete until all of Africa is free from colonial racist domination’’. Ahmed Ben Bella called on Algerians and all Africans ‘’to bleed a little’’ with liberation movements fighting for freedom and justice. Africa must feed world civilization as a duty and as defence against Lubitzism.
