The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) has described as ‘condemnable’ the non-payment of members’ salaries for several months by some state governments.
The council made the condemnation in a communiqué issued at the end of its Expanded National Executive Council meeting held in Gombe State where it listed Benue, Kwara and Osun as owing salaries for between six and nine months.
Signed by its President, Emmanuel N. Asagha and General Secretary, Nuhu Ogirima, the communiqué said, “Coming on the heels of FG bail-out, and in spite of the Labour Law, as amended, council believes that the non-payment of arrears of lawfully earned salaries accruing to the staff of the colleges of education in such states as Benue, Kwara and Osun remains condemnable.”
