The bishop, who spoke in Owerri with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), described the president’s death as a great loss to the nation.
The cleric said, “posterity will ever remember him for the uprightness he exhibited when he was in power.”
Oparaojiaku said that Yar’adua took very bold steps toward solving the Niger Delta crisis through his amnesty programme and creation of the Niger Delta ministry.
The bishop advised President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure that he vigorously pursued the programmes he had so far mapped out in order “to make a mark” during his tenure.
“Jonathan should be bold and courageous in order to take the nation to the Promised Land.
“If Yar’adua could institute a programme that benefit the people of the Niger Delta region, Jonathan has no excuse not to give the zone adequate attention,” he said. (NAN)
