The event took place last Sunday at the Cathedral of St. Peter’s Umuokanne in Ohaji/Ebgema local government area, Imo State.
The Knights of St. Christopher (KSC) and Dames were the second set of people conferred with the knighthood order in the diocese since its creation and the first since it became a full fledged diocese in the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) after three years as missionary diocese.
In a sermon, the bishop of the diocese, Rt. Rev Chidi Collins Oparaojiaku said 20 out of the number of those who applied to be made knights were told to hold on till next year pending when petitions against them will be cleared.
He said those knighted were chosen on merit.
The prelate who described the new knights as yoke servants tasked them to work as a team to build a diocese that can compare with others.
Bishop Oparaojiaku was confident that the crop of people knighted this year are committed and will move the diocese forward.
He condemned the recent killing of innocent Christians during on Christmas the Boko Haram sect in Niger and Plateau States.
