Animal Care, one of the largest agro-allied industries in the livestock subsector in Nigeria has introduced a new boiled egg technology which prolongs the shelf-life of boiled egg for more than one month.
According to the company representative at the exhibition, Mr. Shola, “this is actually the boiled egg and coloured. It is coloured like the Easter egg. The main idea behind these eggs is to increase the shelf life of eggs. Boiled eggs only lasts for about two to three days, but these can stay for as long as one month and 10 days and still be very fresh.”
He said they have a machine that boils the egg and paints it, depending on your desired colour, stressing that, “If you are a customer, you place your order and your eggs would be painted according to your wish. There is something that is very common in Nigeria, during occasions, people like to select colours. With the funtuna eggs, when there is an occasion, we customize your name on them, with these, it would be slightly different, instead of names, and we would use colours that you want.”
The company also showcased their new cages, which come in both manual cage and the automatic cage with improved features.
 The automated one, called the GU Automacare can hold up to 20,000 to 25,000 birds in one house, depending on what you want but the minimum is 20,000 in one house.
“The system collects egg automatically; the manure removal is automated, including feeding. It also has an egg collection room, whereby you just stay in a place and collect all your eggs. This is the next stage of eggs we want to be producing,” he said.
