This was contained in the communiqué issued at the end of the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation held last Friday in Abuja.

On the February 25, the NFF Electoral Appeals Committee annulled the January 29 elections won by Mrs. Dilichukwu Onyedinma, Chief Emeka Inyama, and Kawu respectively.

In annulling the elections, the Electoral Appeals Committee argued that the elections violated some sections of the NFF statues and the principle of federal character as recognized by the football federation.

Inyama, Onyedinma, and Kawu have not hidden their intention to head to court to seek redress.

The communiqué also stated that the Executive Committee commended the Federal Government, through the Honourable Minister/Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Professor Taoheed Adedoja for the support given to Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima to vie for a seat on the FIFA Executive Committee at the 33rd Ordinary General Assembly of CAF in Khartoum, Sudan on 23rd February, 2011.

It praised the efforts of the campaign committee and attributed Nigeria’s failure to clinch a seat on the FIFA Executive Committee to high-wire politics. However, it is resolved that once Dr. Amos Adamu’s case is concluded at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the NFF will take appropriate steps to align itself with the situation.

In addition, the Executive Committee decided to extend the stay of the present Management Staff, whose initial 4-year contract ended on Tuesday, 28th February, 2011 by six (6) months Just as an Ad-hoc Establishment Committee has been set up to deal with all establishment matters within the Federation, including the contract duration of the Management Staff and other vacant positions after July 2011.

Furthermore, in view of the failure of the planned friendly with Guatemala and the unfortunate incident in USA, the Executive Committee has approved that the Secretariat commence as a matter of urgency, a process to appoint a world-renowned Match Agent, who will be on a long-term exclusive contract with the Federation and will be saddled with the responsibility of organizing friendly matches for Nigeria’s national senior team on FIFA-free days.
