The Caretaker Chairman of the union in the state, Muhammad Dabo Dawakin Tofa, said this when the union visited the speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abdulaziz Garba Gafa.
The chairman said, among the highlights of the scheme are; the opening of all cadres’ terminal point to grade level 16 and the creation of the post of the head of the local government service which will attract grade level 17.
He told the speaker that the union with a total of over 350,000 staff working under the umbrella of the union had recently inaugurated a caretaker committee to steer the affairs of the union until a credible and acceptable election is conducted.
In his response, the speaker of the house, Alhaji Gafa said the house would in no distant future finish its debate on the appropriation of the 2010 budget and move on to review the local government law before it. He assured the union of the house’s desire to promote local government service, considering the workforce involved and the importance of the local government service to nation building.
