Man charged with burglary in Ekiti

A 45-year-old man, Agunbiade Soji, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti magistrates’ court for shop breaking and theft.

The prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 14, at about 3am at Okesa Market in Ado-Ekiti.

Inspector Akinwale said the defendant broke into the shop of one Mrs Remi Adeyuyibe and stole N21,950.

He further said the defendant also broke into the shop of one Mrs Anjorin Joseph and stole her Android phone valued at N50,000.

Akinwale said the defendant also broke the shop of one Mrs Titilope Morayesa and stole N10,000.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Tunmise Akinwumi, urged the court to grant his client bail with a promise that he would not escape.

The Magistrate, Bankole Oluwasanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N60,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to August 12.
