Man docked for allegedly keeping friend’s gun in his office

One 30-year-old Toheeb Ganiyu was on Tuesday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly keeping his friend’s gun in his office.

Ganiyu, whose address was not provided, is being charged with accessory after the fact, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp. Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in 2024 at the Atipe area of Ibadan.

Adegbite alleged that the defendant permitted one Olaoluwa Ogungbade, alleged to be a cultist and popularly called Akube, to keep his gun in his office.

He alleged that the defendant knew fully well that the said Akube is a member of the Aiye Confraternity but failed to report to the appropriate authority.

He said that the defendant committed an offence contrary to Section 520 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Kausarat Ayofe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦200,000 and one surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned until January 26, 2026, for hearing. (NAN)
