A Kano Upper Shari’a Court in the Gezawa Local Government Area has ordered that one Dalhatu Suleiman be remanded for allegedly assaulting his mother and fracturing her hand.

The state prosecutor, Barrister Mahmoud Imam, told the court that the defendant, a resident of Gezawa, is charged with intimidation, harassment, and using excessive force.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred when Suleiman returned home and demanded food from his mother. When she told him that the food wasn’t ready, he allegedly grabbed a stick and hit her on the left hand, causing a fracture.

He is also accused of threatening to burn down the house.

While in court, Suleiman admitted to using drugs but denied being under the influence at the time of the incident.

Presiding Judge, Khadi Nura Yusuf, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility and adjourned the case to September 16, 2025, for judgment.
