A chief magistrate court sitting in Ado- Ekiti has ordered the remand of Olanrewaju Seun, 18, in the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Inspector Elijah Adejare, in an ex-parte application requested for the order to allow him to forward the duplicate case file to the office of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
Inspector Adejare said the defendant committed the offence of defilement on a three-year-old girl at Iyana Eminrin, Ado Ekiti, on August 6, 2021.
In her explanation to the police, the child’s mother, Mrs Adeniyi Adeola, said her girl’s private parts were swollen and paining her while she was bathing her, and on enquiry, the girl mentioned the defendant’s name (Oga Seun) to have defiled her. She thereafter reported the matter at Odo Ado Police Station, hence, his arrest and arraignment.
The Magistrate, Times Daramola, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre and adjourned the matter until October 5, 2021, for mention.
