Anthrax: Kaduna procures 150,000 doses of vaccines

Kaduna State Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Manzo Maigari has said that there is no case of anthrax in the state,saying 150,000 doses of vaccines have been procured as a preventive measure.
He disclosed this at a one day workshop organized by the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, (NVMA) in collaboration with Africa Media Development Foundation, (AMDF) and supported by Ministry of Agriculture for journalists on reporting zoonosis and zoonotic diseases.
Anthrax is a bacterial disease of sheep and cattle, typically affecting the skin and lungs. It can be transmitted to humans, causing severe skin ulceration or a form of pneumonia.
The commissioner, who was represented by his Permanent Secretary, Abdulkadir Kassim, said that doctors and veterinary personnel have been stationed to monitor movements of livestock coming into Kaduna from border states.
