The National President of National Association of Nigerian Student (NANS), Olusola Oladoja, has vowed that any Vice-Chancellor or Rector, found holding of any dubious character in this Nigerian Students Loan scheme must be removed from office.

He said the federal government is trying to bring policy that will help Nigeria students and some people are just sabotaging it and NANS will not accept that.

Oladoja who stated this while interacting with Journalists during the weekend in Abuja, said NANS will fight anyone who is trying to sabotage the efforts of federal government initiative of students Loan .

He said since the commencement of the students Loan scheme dropouts have reduced drastically.

“We now have less dropout of students in school for financial reasons because after NELFUND pays your school fees, you still have stipend of N20,000 that you will be using to feed yourself and do school running,” he said.

He however noted that the association has made some efforts regarding the students Loan scheme saga and the Executives will be meeting with that of NELFUND this week for further discussion.

Speaking on the recent controversy between the factional president Atiku Isah, Oladoja said: “I can tell you that there is no faction in NANS. Because quote me anywhere, the Atiku Isah, the only two times I’ve seen him in my life, I’ve talked to him, whenever I see him, he addresses me as Mr. President.”

He said, what makes one factional is when he has conducted a process and not satisfied with it. “So, for now, Isah has no validity to call himself a factional president because he was never part of the election process. ”

He explained that one of the reasons for factional groups in NANS is political manipulation.

“It has shown that it’s the opposition party that want to use him because they see that some of us are commending the good work and the policy of education Mr. President is doing. So they see us, NANS, to always oppose government. But some of us, we are intellectuals,” he said.

He mainatined that the opposition want to use the factional group to get to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because they are commending some of his policies on education.

“But I can tell you, there is nothing compared to the truth. The truth will always prevail, no matter how long it takes. I was telling somebody in my interview this afternoon when he said NANS president was beating up. I said they cannot beat me as the NANS president and the whole country will not be on standstill by now,” he said.

While noting that NANS is one , indivisible and rooted in democractic process, the newly inaugurated President said over 40.1 million Nigerian students came together to elect him and he would rebrand NANS and reform its mobility.

He said under his watch the association would no longer be used as willing tools by politicians, which is one of the reasons NANS is seen as unserious in the past
