The PDP in the state, on March 5, sent 45 officers on suspension, with threats of expulsion if they are found guilty of allegations that they are working for Labaran Maku, a former leader of the party who defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to clinch the party’s gubernatorial ticket.
The suspension has sent both APGA and APC jostling to win the membership of the officers affected, in what has increased political rivalry in the state.
Daily Trust learnt yesterday that the leadership of APC in the state has since constituted a contact group to make contacts with the suspended 45 with a view to wooing them to the party while APGA has equally stepped up efforts to get them into its fold.
Daily Trust also learnt that a team of APC officers met in Akwanga, and tried to reach out to Mrs. Hadiza Victor, women leader of the PDP, who is among the 45 suspended officers.
An APC officer told Daily Trust that the women leader refused to welcome the APC team which visited her residence.
The women leader declined to speak to our reporter on the matter.
State PDP spokesman, Yohanna Mark Neto did not pick calls for reaction.
