APC chairmanship: Sheriff seeks Umahi’s support

A former governor of Borno State, Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff, yesterday declared his intention to contest for the position of national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sheriff, who had served as the national chairman of PDP, declared his intention at the old government house in Abakaliki on Wednesday, where he sought the support of the governor, David Umahi.

“All we are here for is to let you know that when our party puts up its timetable for the national positions, I will run for the position of national chairman,” he said.

Responding, Umahi said if the decision to choose who becomes the national chairman of the ruling party is allowed to rest in his hands, he would go for Alhaji Sheriff.
